It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for the Aspiring Writer’s Educational Scholarship. As an undergraduate student with a passion for reading and writing, I find this club and scholarship venerable and motivating.
I am currently a sophomore English major at Tuskegee University. I am originally from Marietta, Georgia and am one of two children of Angela Hammond and the late Michael Hammond. At Tuskegee, I am a member of our chapter’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Council of Negro Women – Tuskegee Section, a writer for the campus newspaper – The Campus Digest, and involved in many other volunteer and community service oriented organizations. In addition, my cumulative grade point average is a 4.0. Future career goals of mine include becoming a college professor and traveling to developing countries to teach and work to change policies negatively affecting their education systems.
